Amigos: The Richmond Latino Center

About

Amigos was founded in 1999 to support the growing Latino population of Richmond and Wayne County. As a center, Amigos supports the Latino community to engage actively in the life of the town, to benefit from the services that are provided, and to thrive as Richmond community members. We promote learning, cooperation, and respect across cultures. Programs Offered: English Classes: Amigos has helped hundreds of people learn English, regardless of their native language. Corazon Latino: Amigos and the Boys & Girls Club provide culturally-relevant activities and leadership for 5th-8th graders. Tu Futuro: Amigos offers a college readiness program at Richmond High School to encourage students to focus on their academics and learn the college application process. We also support them through that process. Strings Initiative: Amigos and the Richmond Community Orchestra offers group violin lessons to kids 8-12 so they can play an instrument before it's offered in the public schools. Classes for Women: We offer programs on healthy living/healthy eating, yoga and meditation, and traditional healing practices.Tennis Camp: Amigos and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) have partnered to offer a free tennis program for 9-11 year-olds.
