Wonderful discussion, as usual <3
Was tired but really enjoyed hearing everyone's responses to Edwin's discussion questions, was overwhelmed but seriously loved discussing what steps would need to be taken to disassemble racism/xenophobic schools of thought at ALL levels in the US.
Hours for homework --> reading Dear America pg. 107-135 & Attorney General DACA article.
Reflected a lot on how scary but relieving it must've been for Jose Antonio to write his story to publish and share
Meeting time to discuss this week's readings! Was particularly stuck on the article assigned this week, reflecting a lot on the person described to be interrupting the president's remarks. They seemingly reflected the "scapegoating" of immigrants and misconstrued narrative of immigrants being the source of all the issues in the US.
Reading time for assigned readings this week, "Dear America" (pgs 85-106) and the article "Remarks by the President on Immigration"
Hours for homework --> pgs. 63-84, "Remarks by President Trump on the Illegal Immigration Crisis and Border Security"
Thought about Jose Antonio's support system coming together to assure him a spot in college so that he can continue his education. Thought a lot about accessibility to higher education and support needed to help underrepresented populations from attending college, reflected on my own privilege and support from my support systems in high school
