Reading for the book club (pgs. 207-230)
Last book club meeting, had some discussion and reflection on the elections and feelings about the book
Book club meeting! Took it easy this week because of the elections... so had a nice bonding time with the group!
Reading time for this week's assignment (pgs 177-206)
Attended the book meeting to discuss the assigned readings for the week! Particularly was focused and passionate about discussing the label of "activist", what it means, who claims it, and by what measures can one be deemed as an "activist". Personally got angry about performative activism.
Reading time for this week's assignments, Dear America (pgs 155-177) and an article (Department of Homeland Security v. Regents of the University of California)
Meeting time to discuss this week's assigned readings, felt a lot of empathy toward's Jose and his discussion about journalism and his identity as an immigrant. Felt a lot of joy and optimism when Jose discussed the work and coming together of people for the TIME's cover, thinking about the unification, togetherness, and sense of community in finding others like you.
